If you purchased one of the affected trucks, you will be receiving a letter in the mail letting you know how to have your vehicle repaired at no cost to you.  Right now, the recall impacts about 370,000 2014 Chevy Silverados and GMC Sierras.  Apparently, there is a software glitch that can cause the exhaust components to overheat leading to engine damage and a possibility of fire.  There have been 8 vehicle fires as a result of this malfunction, but so far no one has been hurt.

The repair is quick and doesn’t take long to do; however, don’t let the ease of the fix fool you into thinking it’s not important to have your vehicle fixed. GMC takes this threat of vehicle fire seriously enough to warn owners of these vehicles to not leave their trucks idling for any length of time while the vehicle is unattended.

If you do not receive a letter or you want further information about the recall, you can check out GMC’s website, https://my.gmc.com/web/portal/_warrantyandrecalls, or call your local dealer.
