More than two million air fryers manufactured by Cosori have been recalled after it was found that a defective wire could cause burns and start fires. These air fryers have been tied to more than 200 separate incidents where the machine would smoke, catch fire, melt, or overheat, resulting in multiple injuries and several instances of property damage. Anyone who has one of these air fryers should contact the manufacturer for a free replacement or another Cosori product.

What is Cosori?

Cosori is a brand of air fryers, dehydrators, toaster ovens, kettles, and other kitchen appliances, which is owned by Chinese-based company Vesync. The company is one of the biggest manufacturers of air fryers in the United States, selling products at Best Buy, Target, Home Depot, and other major stores. Vesync has an estimated annual revenue of $111 million as of 2022.

What Are These Air Fryers?

Air fryers are a type of small convection oven, usually intended to be placed on a countertop, which allows people to “fry” food without the use of oil. Many people use these types of appliances as a way to quickly and easily cook food that tastes fried, but with less mess and less fat due to the method of cooking. The Cosori models, in particular, are extremely popular, selling more than two million units since they were first offered for sale in 2018.

What Are These Products Being Recalled?

Cosori has recalled these air fryers due to a defective wire connection in the cord of the machine. When used, this defect can cause the machine to overheat, creating a risk of burns to anyone who comes into contact with it, as well as posing a risk of starting fires. This defect resulted in 205 reports of the machine overheating to dangerous levels, with 10 cases of minor injuries and 23 cases of property damage resulting from this defect.
