The moment you were injured, you entered a war zone. Over the past 35 years the insurance industry and large corporations have spent billions of dollars spreading false information about accident claims in Tennessee. These huge entities have declared war on injured people and their attorneys, especially in the south and that includes the Nashville area. “Big Business”—largely through the U.S. and Tennessee Chambers of Commerce—wants the general public to believe that the civil justice system is out of control. When I talk about the U.S. and Tennessee Chambers of Commerce, I am not talking about your local city or county chambers of commerce, of which many of you might in fact be members, and which merely try to promote interest in shopping and doing business at a local level. No, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Tennessee Chamber of Commerce are made up largely of huge corporations, including insurance companies! These organizations use their collective monetary muscle power to promote the interests of those big businesses and insurance companies to the detriment of all who might stand in the way of a profit.
“Big Business” wants the general public to believe that the civil justice system is out of control….This propaganda by big business is called “Tort Reform.” |
In promoting their focused interest in profits, these Big Business and Insurance Companies want us to believe that frivolous lawsuits are running rampant. They want us to believe that juries are handing out unreasonable verdicts left and right that injure our economy. They want us to believe that there is a medical malpractice crisis. This propaganda by big business is called “Tort Reform.”
Tort Reform is nothing more than big business’ attempt to:
- scare the public into limiting the recovery injured parties can receive for the harms they have suffered by others;
- scare the public into accepting caps (or limits) on recoveries for the pain and suffering endured by those who have been injured;
- scare the public into limiting the ability of injured persons to recover the true amounts needed to compensate them for the harms they have endured;
- increase their profits by stuffing their own pockets with monies that should go to compensating injured persons.
Insurance claim adjustors will utilize any means necessary to pay out as little as possible. |
Unfortunately, this “Tort Reform” misinformation spread by big businesses has had a tremendously negative impact on juries and their verdicts in Middle Tennessee accident cases and injury attorneys have our work cut out for us – but we at Keith Williams Law Grolup are always willing to fight for our client’s rights. This concerted effort by big business has made juries skeptical of people who file claims seeking money for “pain and suffering.” This can be a huge obstacle in achieving a fair and reasonable recovery that truly compensates you for the harms you have suffered, especially when your injuries are severe.
Insurance claim adjusters will utilize any means necessary to pay out as little as possible. These adjusters receive extensive training on how to save the company money. They are NOT trained on how to examine a claim and pay a fair settlement. When the adjusters are unable to get you to accept pennies on the dollar to settle your claim and a lawsuit is filed, they then bring in the big gun defense lawyers to fight against you. There is no mistake about it: you are in a War Zone! To win that war, arm yourself with an experienced, Board Certified Civil Trial attorney who focuses on an accident, personal injury and wrongful death cases!
